A “wall of positive expression” on Rue Victor Hugo in Lyon.
“Even the darkest night will come to an end, and the sun will rise.”–Victor Hugo.
Perreyon will reopen Thursday!
Life goes on as repairs are underway.
Lyon’s Hotel de Ville shines on.
Life gets better.
Resilience in the face of adversity is strength.
I am inspired by the comity of the Lyonnaise.
Yesterday, I wrote about my observations of the wanton vandalism and looting. Today, October 20, I want to focus on the remarkable resilience of the Lyonnaise. By Sunday morning, the clean up was well underway. The Marché Saint Antoine along the Saône was open and all the vendors were there. By Tuesday morning as shops began repair, the grace and kindness of everyday people was evident. There is a long way to go and the legitimate issues of the protestors have not gone away but there is a resolve to recover and move forward.
