Visiting Lyon means getting reacquainted with the many variations of confections made with the quintessential sweet for which the city is known. Most ubiquitous of the Praline Lyonnaise pastries are brioche full of pralines and the praline tart. Sweet, sugar coated and spectacularly pink, praline roses, as they are known, are a combination of carmelized sugar with tiny crushed almonds.

We are here for two months during which I am enrolled in intensive French, drawing daily and making photographs. This trip I am playing with a holga and continuing my exploration of pinhole photography along with digital work.

We are also making contacts for our UW Study Abroad Early Fall program on art and innovation in Lyon.
