LA BIENNALE DE LA DANSE, LYON 2018

The 18th edition of the festival, created in 1984 by Guy Dermet, presented thousands of dancers from all over the world in performances and events all over the city. The major public event is the parade. This year’s parade was titled “Defile de la Paix” and featured elaborate costuming and a culminating performance in the Place Bellecour with over 4500 parade participants and 200,000 spectators. Yann Bourgeois created the spellbinding performance that combined dance, music and trampoline as part of the finale. At the closing, the enormous crowd was led in singing and choreography to John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Our students took in two performances and the parade as a grand culmination of our program.
